    Description

Where were you when you heard the crushing news that the crazy redhead had died? I remember exactly. In fact, when Lucille Desiree Ball was originally rushed to the hospital, I felt like a relative was ill. I even called Cedars-Sinai from my NYC apartment and asked a nurse or operator for information about Lucy’s condition. She told me it was a very serious situation but could say no more.
This memorial issue of People magazine or People Weekly is in near-mint condition. Cover date May 8, 1989. A true collectors item for diehard fans of Lucy Ricardo and the TV classic I Love Lucy.
No bends, wrinkles, rips, tears. Staples tight. All pages secure. All 162 pages intact. Eleven pages of memorial photos and text.
I am auctioning off a collection of vintage items for a friend. Her mother was originally a coal miner’s daughter from Kentucky but she found love with a man from Boston. They lived in Framingham, MA together for several decades. Her husband died two years ago but she soldiered on. However, during a Northeaster last fall of 2020, a tree fell on their 1950s ranch house. This meant that she had to move out quickly for safety’s sake.
This woman is now safe in a new home. But she is forced to sell off all the magazines she has been saving – one could say hoarding -- since the 1950s. She has been a very committed collector and has lots of great magazines that span five decades.
I am selling this huge array of magazines in lots to speed the process. They will be grouped according to category. Please note that these magazines reflect normal loving use and that means modest edge wear. Some have a slightly musty odor that can be remedied by a couple of days of airing out. Sometimes it also means pen or pencil writing on certain pages. Please note that I am not listing every possible flaw in these magazines, for the sake of moving them out quickly.
Please see my other auctions featuring books and magazines from the collection of the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter who moved to Framingham, MA.
Please note, I have been an eBay seller since 1998 -- yep, 23 years -- and I have 100% positive feedback. Bid with confidence.
